God has and is blessing us all in many ways. So much so that often blessings pass us by unnoticed and taken for granted.
As Christians we look back to the cross, Gods greatest blessing and sign of His amazing love to us. “In this the love of God was manifested towards us, that God sent His only begotten son into this world, that we might live through Him. In this love, not that we loved God but that He loved us and sent His son to be the propitiation for our sins.”( 1John4v9-10) This was an undeserved love, and one that we will never be able to fully comprehend.
Not only this, but we are continually blessed, materially and spiritually on our day to day lives. When we think about our condition before God, we deserve nothing that we have, and compared to the majority of the world and our brothers and sisters in Christ in other parts of the world, our blessings are exceedingly abundant.
We also look forward to great blessings. “To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.” (1 Peter 1v4.) Just stop and think of those words.Incorrpitible.Undefiled.Reserved. We cannot even imagine the blessings and joys to come! Knowing what is to come should change our attitudes to our lives, and how we view what surrounds us. We ought not to cling to this world or what it contains, but rather long for our eternal home, and being in God’s presence forever.
So, after this short reminder of all that God is doing for us, my challenge is this. As christians we have blessings to look back on, surrounding us now, and to look forward to, First, how often do we stop and even notice them? And second, how much do we thank God for all He has done, is doing and will do for us? Let us all strive to notice and acknowledge, whether big or small, what God has blessed us with, Spiritual as well as material blessings.
