So many of our heart discussions begin with this potent word. Why are those that we love so dearly, suffering? Why are there members of our family who don’t know Jesus? Why didn’t I get that job? Why was I not accepted at that university? Why am I still not married? Why is life so complicated? The questions come thick and fast. No sooner have we dealt with one question when another appears with greater vigour.
It isn’t fun to feel like you’re not in control of life. It isn’t fun to see a relationship break apart and not be able to do anything about it or see somebody consistently resist Jesus who we know desperately needs Him. So how do we find meaning in this life?
The meaning of life is found in Him who truly said of Himself: “I am the resurrection and the life”. The One who knelt on the ground in a dark garden and wept and sweated drops of blood for us. The one who hung in pain, struggling to breath, and cried out with deeper meaning than any of us ever will: “why?”. Jesus- the great curse reverser brings order to this chaos.
Maybe you feel in many ways you don’t understand. Let me encourage you to seek the answer in Jesus. Ask Him about it. He wants to hear from His children. Know that He died so that we could could be free of the curse of sin and death and in the end we could see Him face to face in heaven.
“This slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen by to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”
(1 Corinthians 4:17-18)
