Quote of the week

The Walking Worthy moderating team thought it would be a good idea to try something new. So we decided to find a stack of good quotes and to post them regularly on the blog. We hope that not only will they provoke a lot of thought, but that you'll enjoy discussing and commenting on what they mean. Please leave your thoughts; we'd love to hear them. Here is the first one we found:

No doubt there is a cross to carry if we follow Christ; no doubt there are trials to be endured and battles to be fought; but the comforts of the gospel far outweigh the cross.

J.C. Ryle

  1. It is easy for us to agree with that now in this age where it is relatively easy to live at least outwardly as a Christian. The think that makes this quote powerful especially to me is that this was just as true in the days of the martyrdoms under 'bloody Mary' during the reformation about which Ryle also wrote. Think about some other famous missionaries: Polycarp, Jim Elliot- the same applied for them..... The comforts of the gospel are stunning.

  2. A very good quote... deffinetly something to think on. I think that this is a good idea!
